I am planning to link my 70cm repeater to 29.290 MHz on QSONet. See www.QRZ.com and search for my call sign for more info on my repeater

Joe,

This is Gary, K7EK, in Washington State. I am trying to find out what kind
of hardware and method(s) that people are using for their links between QsoNet and RF. I am planning to do one here myself. Since I believe there is no COR/COS or serial port access built into the program as of yet, I must assume that you are using a VOX circuit of some sort. Would this possibly be a WB2REM iLink board, a radio-sound card interface box,
or something similar? I am assuming that it has to be VOX only, both
ways. The links I have worked on the 29 mhz segment of CQ100 seem to
be working extremely well both ways but I have as of yet been unable to
ascertain what kind of hardware I will require for my proposed link. Can
you help? Thanks in advance.

Should work pretty much the same as echolin kwith a board with no COS. I have the rascal interface ,everything should work fine. Just put the software into VOX mode and away you go...

I am working on setting up a RF <=>QsoNet link that will be on 29.690
virtual and on my 147.14 Repeater located in Graham, WA, 103.5 hz
tone. Initial testing of hardware and software settings will be done on
simplex, 145.500 mhz with a 103.5 hz tone.

hi have been play with a remote setup here,,
i build up a sound card interface like you used on psk....
got it working....
then i build a vox circuit ...to key my ptt on my 2 meter radio..
when some talking on 146.625 the vox in cq100 key and tx it,,
when some talk on cq100 . the vox circuit i build key up,,,
my 2 meter and tx it .
i have been thinking about some add a 3 minute timer, also,,,

lot of fun when out doing the eveing walk. and talking
over cq 100...

Remote control update from KC7GHT:

I have most of my design finished on paper and analyzed, with some of the blocks tested. In the November time frame I will build a PWB for my complete system. At that point I will have full control of the CQ100 radio from my HT via my 70 cm repeater. In the meantime I have part of the system breadboarded and I will test that portion from Silverton, Colorado while Jeeping (next week) in the San Juan 14,000 foot high mountains. I will be able to control my repeater and my three remote bases while sitting in my Jeep in Silverton. My repeater station is located in Phoenix, Arizona . I have a 2 meter, and 1-1/4 meter, and a 0.7 meter remote base (frequency agile tranceivers) that have been operational for several years on my 447.575 MHz repeater in Phoenix.

More info later as I proceed.

I can now control my repeater and my three remote bases from any WI-FI hot spot in the world. The first test was August 6, 2007 at 6:00 PM from Silverton, Colorado while sitting in my Jeep. My buddy K7AQ Charlie was in Phoenix, and I closed the loop by remote control from Silverton. My repeater is in Phoenix, Arizona. While in Colorado Jeeping, I controlled my repeater and connected all three of my remote bases to local repeaters in Arizona on 2 meters, 1-1/4 meters, and on 0.7 meters. I was able to join in on all of my Arizona nets anytime.

Hi all

I've had good results using this software. http://rivat.chez-alice.fr/soft/simplex/simplex.zip It detects an audio signal..ie LINE IN or (STEREO MIX for our application) and then keys the required comport to TX audio. Have a go ..it's good.

You can buy a very cheep vox keyer from Gateway Electronics corp, they come in kit form but are easy to build up, price $6.95 or $9.95 this is the easy way to setup a Gateway on CQ100.

If you go to their website and click on, electronic kits on the menu bar.

I have finally finished designing and building and testing the remote control of my CQ100 radio via my repeater using DTMF tone codes. It is working great. My CQ100 radio is now a frequency agile remote base radio linked to my repeater. Entering my repeater on 447.575 MHz or through any if it's links, I can control all of the functions of my CQ100 remote base. For example while I am hiking with my HT, or mobile with my Jeep radio, I can change frequency, change bands, scan. etc by sending DTMF tones.
