reading Doug's annoucement WARNING ABOUT ABUSE ON QSOTV
I like to add this view , have to do it on a new item as replies are not able on annoucements :
I totally aggree and the level should be set very low , not only about sending pictures of half-naked girls ( while wife and kids may be in the same room ) but on any item .
With bad memeories of war ( being a German ) and conscientious objector I do deeply dislike getting photos of war planes and other military stuff on QSO TV during my QSOs just because some seems to look on war stuff as playing toys for big children and love that stuff though the only purpose is to kill and destroy .
Doug: can you provide a software - solution that someone cannot send more than one photo ( f.e : qrx pse ) if he has not transmitted on that frequency during the last 10 minutes ?? TX means = more than 30 sec and not only keying up

Thanks for these comments Uli.
I will think about a software solution. There was a bug in the original release of QsoTV where it was impossible to send a picture unless you were also transmitting your voice. Some people thought that bug was a feature.
If someone does not like the subject being discussed, they can tune away. so I am usually quite forgiving. However, if pictures are used to deliberately cause QRM or to insult or annoy others, this is not forgivable.
On another subject:
I was looking at the loop antenna on your web site www.mydarc.de/dg7lae , VERY INTERSTING! I see you reduce the skin effect by using flat bar instead of wire. I am experimenting with a 1 metre round loop made from 3 cm plastic pipe. I wrapped 80 meters of wire around the plastic like a torrid, so it resonates at 14 Mhz. It is a closed loop with no capactitor. I can get 1:1 swr if I push the loops around. The bandwidth is very sharp about 25 kHZ. I have made quite a few contacts with the loop sitting on my carpet in the house. I am using only 5 watts QRP for this antenna. http://ve3efc.ca/log

| Really, warplanes? I could understand if they are doing it to upset you, but if someone doesn't know that you are an objecter and sends those type of photos I don't really see an issue. I am a disabled veteran and maybe I'd object to seeing photos of flowers placed into the barrels of rifles, but I wouldn't come here and complain. I'd simply ignore it and move on. Pornograhphic material I understand, but we can't censor everything because we'd end up not being able to send any pictures at all. |

I understand that this is an old post, but I had to comment.
I had to read this post 4 times because I couldn't imagine the poster was serious. I have to agree with Mike, W8MLD. I have never met a rude person on CQ100. I have met a lot of proud veterans. When photos of WWII aircraft's are sent, the fellows are usually aviation buffs or proud veterans. I wouldn't be offended by it if I were you. I can only assume that these guys have some very terrible memories as well but have put them behind them.
God Bless us all
